WiFi and health

What is this wi fi anyway, I mean what
type(frequency) of signals are used in wi-fi? Radio?

The reason that I ask, is because i wonder if
completely saturating a city in wi-fi poses any
adverse health risks.

I worry about his after reading an article about
some researcher creating a "god helmet"

The article,
www.geocities.com/satanicus...elmet.html
describes a helmet that uses electromagnetic signals
to stimulate an emotional response in it's wearer.

When queried as to why he does this research, one of his answers
was, "We're living more and more in a complex electromagnetic environment where the experiences of the effects may not be obvious."

So i wonder how much the wifi revolution will change
the amount of EM waves i'm exposed to and whether
it actually makes a difference.

Any facts, ideas or theories?

Well, if wi-fi really does start to mess with
our brains and cause all of us to be emotionally
unstable, then at least we'll all be able to connect
to tribe and talk about it from the comfort of our own
couches, car seat, coffee shop, etc. :-)

the WiFi we know as 802.11a/b/g is a radio technology operating somewhere between 900mhz to 5+ghz. it's very low power and doesn't post any risk to your physical or mental health. rest assured that WiFi is at least well off the list of potential concerns, seeing as how there are many more sources of actual significant EM fields out there. (look up "inverse square law" if you want to understand how insignificant even very high power signals become once you're a short distance away...)

there is some reality to EM/RF fields screwing with your head and body, but beware of the secret "mind control" quacks. this stuff tends to involve high power, directional microwave energy, has not-so-specific effects and no connection to WiFi.

I agree with the concern, but can't measure anything off
my notebook antenna. -Maybe when I get my new antenna!
[My background field is well above the level (2mG) known
to cause cancer, -from nearby powerlines]
I'd like to measure next to someones base station.
